Western Railway Secondary School, Valsad is engaged inculcating the quality of love, compassion, generosity, and patience in students as it wants to achieve its dream of the better world.

History of School

Railway Anglo Indian Study Centre, Bulsar was established in 1919 during the British rule in India. It was the only English Medium Study Centre in Bulsar district. At that time the school building was used for multipurpose. Morning time it was used as a study center and during the evenings it was a club where the Britishers used to play billiards and cards. The school mostly had British and Parsi students at that time and there were only three rooms in the school.

It was after independence this building was used only for study purpose and was named as Railway Primary English Medium School Bulsar. It had classes from I to VI Std. and later Standard VII was started. During that time Mrs. Semoice was the Head Mistress and she retired in 1978.

After her Mrs. Panicker was the Head- Mistress and retired in 2000. The school had an extension of three more rooms i.e is the present new library-reading room.) The school was again gradually upgraded in 1992 from std. VIII to X and was then renamed as Railway Secondary School (English Medium)Valsad. The first batch of students appeared for SSC Board Exams in 1995 and the same year the school celebrated its 75th Anniversary. It was not an easy job to upgrade the school without trained graduate teachers but with the support and voluntary help of a few assistant teachers we were able to do it.

Regarding the infrastructure of the school in 1998, we had 12 total rooms inclusive of office, staff room and storeroom. In 1999-2000 one more room was built. In 2005-06 the storeroom was renovated into a computer lab and one more classroom was built. In 2010 two more classrooms were built. Then again in 2012 four more new rooms and separate toilets for boys and girls were built.

In 2013 Library and Reading room was inaugurated by Mrs. Anjali Kumar (Mrs. G.M.). School library is well decorated and well furnished. Its furniture was purchased in the same year 2013. At Present the school building has 17 rooms.

In 2015 school has got affiliation of Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
